What The Heck Would You Put On These???? UPDATED
« Reply #-1 on: September 23, 2016, 09:21:27 PM »
Mrs Hikerman came home from a Kroger's mission with amongst other things, 4 apple maple cinnamon chicken bratwursts. We were both on the road today so a simple meal was the plan. I cooked these, BELIEVE IT OR NOT without boiling them first. Seared then indirect until IT of 165F. They looked great coming off the PK but......now what condiments work best with these. Before cooking they smelled like a dessert! ???
Mrs H applied Slawsa and said it was good, I being the more adventurous wimped and just put saurkraut on after an initial taste bite! Mine was ok, but the brat itself had a fine taste, maybe more suitable for breakfast.
What do you think?

Sorry Gene but for me maple cinnamon belongs on dessert. Maybe if you had boiled them first :) :) Don

Bratwurst (German: [ˈbʁaːtvʊɐ̯st] ( listen)) is a type of German sausage made from veal, pork or beef. The name is derived from the Old High German Brätwurst, from brät-, finely chopped meat, and Wurst, sausage, although in modern German it is often associated with the verb braten, to pan fry or roast.

IE no  apple, maple, cinnamon, or chicken

Please call it what you want but do not mis-name it Bratwurst. ;) ;)

Completely agree Art. When I first took a sniff it was more like French toast than sausage.
Very unique!

Braised with a little apple juice and brandy and some thinly sliced apples.....I think they would pair nicely with some latkes that had sour cream on them. It would make for a breakfasty meal with some nice contrasts of flavor and texture.

Wow, Gene.  I love Waffles and I agree with you those "sausages" need to be with breakfast.  Just like Maple Sausage links.  Love the waffle idea.  Have to try it.
