Hopefully it goes better than my last renewal at the DMV.
For some perplexing reason, the state of GA decided to revoke my license because another person with the same first and last name and date of birth had an accident in NY in 2003 with no insurance and never came to court. Vehicle was registered to the NY guy at an address in Harlem which is where the wreck was. I've lived in GA my entire life and I've never lived in NY or even been to Harlem. Last time I was in the state of NY was in 1994, yet GA decided I was the same guy based on name and date of birth alone. No process involved other than here is you letter and your f**ked unless NY decides you are not the same guy (not withstanding NY never said I was the same, GA made that decision - and yes I work for the state of GA which made it even more sad).
I was actually surprised at how helpful NY DMV was once I got past the phone computer and talked to a real person in that department. They sent both GA and myself a "it's not me" letter. They suggested I keep that letter as it will probably happen again next time I go to renew my license in 8 years.
At least I did not have to stand outside in the cold to get that notice.....
