4th of July meal plans? AKA Whatcha Cookin' ?
« Reply #-1 on: July 04, 2018, 09:41:59 AM »
I brined 2 racks of Baby Backs last night, just got done coating them with mustard and 2 rubs, Simply Marvelous "Season All" on bottom and Simply Marvelous "Cherry Rub" on top. I'll hit'em with a final dusting of MSG and "Poptitude" before putting them on the Pit Boss.

Yesterday I also made up some baked beans, Chipotle, Beer & Honey BBQ sauce, and Loaded Potato Salad. I like to do as much in advance as I can. I'll serve this all with some grilled garlic butter Texas Toast and buttered corn on the cob dusted with bacon salt. My Daughter's boyfriend has been staying with us so I have been in "Show-Off" mode, lol.

I'll post pics later if I can get a decent one before the sharks attack.

What are y'all having today?

I just put the ribs on. Now what to do in the meantime? Do I wash the motorcycles? Do I hop in the pool? Do I just sit on my ass in the A/C and watch Netflix? I might just do the latter, lol!

Did our main meal yesterday, so today I am going to do some wings on the Blackstone, depending on the stormy weather. If it storms too bad, will do them in the air fryer.

It's raining pretty hard here in Houston, so I'm standing in 2 inches of water cooking 2 slabs of baby backs on the pellet pooper. Good thing it is a covered patio.

Jason, MSG really?  With all the bad things that come with it???   LOL
I use MSG quite often, it really brings out the flavor.  So much bad unfounded bad press about it!

So tell me more about the "Poptitude"....... You have me intrigued.........

Spareribs, Baked Cauliflower & Cheese (gotta keep it low-carb  ;)), some homemade baked beans.  Nothing too fancy.

Yeah, I agree about MSG. It's in a lot of foods naturally but I digress. Poptitude is a finishing rub made by Simply Marvelous Rubs. It's a sweet heat type thing that does what it says.....POPS! It adds another level of flavor. I know I sound like I am getting paid to promote Simply Marvelous but I have not had a bad product from them. I adore all of their rubs! I used their Spicy Apple on top of my baked beans. My Daughter's boyfriend ate 2 huge helpings of them. He'll pay for it later, lol.
