Rehabilitation of an old grill & deck
« Reply #-1 on: August 04, 2018, 08:43:36 AM »
Charbroil for a short time brought back the CB - series old school charcoal grill about 7 years ago.
Made them really well, thick sheet  metal, cast-iron grates cast-iron end plates ,heavy wood cutting boards was really a nice cooker. Unfortunately the price point was high enough that their  clientele didn’t buy, so the cooker was only available for less than a year. Found one that had been neglected had a lot of rust. The cooker had good bones however so disassembled it partially ,wire brushed and sanded the main rust off applied rust oleum primer on the non-heating areas and then coated with black 1100° grill paint charcoal pan , other things were brushed clean and seasoned with cooking oil to form a seasoning. Grates were oiled and seasoned. The cutting boards were sanded and refinished. Also happened to be redoing the deck so I thought I would have my first cook all my partially finished deck.

Rehabilitation of an old grill & deck

Nicely done! Love the grilling area (I am a sucker for decks — have always wanted one).  What kind of deal did you get on that cooker, and how much did you have to sink into it? Just curious :-)
