I haven't had a new cooking gadget in a while, it comes in tomorrow. I have to think of something to use it on so I can make a video. Stay tuned ;)

Maybe I can take out the old toilets from peoples houses and re-purpose them! Cha-Ching!! :P

Alright, the wait is over friends. I've been wanting a Searzall for a while, had it in my Amazon basket many times but could never pull the trigger. By the time I added a torch it would be well over $100.00 and I had read reviews on it that weren't so great. It's like anything though, some love it and some hate it. I had been thinking about trying a heat gun instead since it doesn't have any risk of imparting unburned gas  flavors (a common complaint on the Searzall).

My issue was I wasn't sure it would work but in my interweb travels, I came across this video :



With my mind made up, I ordered myself  this :





I got it for under $40.00, it's powerful so I think it'll do a nice job. My main intended use is for charring ribs and setting the glaze (caramelization). I think it's going to be FUN!

I have 3 gigantic chicken breasts in the Sous Vide as we speak, I'll try the heat gun on the skin and will report back (probably in a separate thread). Stay tuned!
