Hi Robb! Thanks for helping us beta test the new roaming thermocouple! Your feedback was invaluable. And thanks for getting on the wait list for the pre-sale, can't wait to see the pics you post cooking on your new 2-Star!

As for the general release, we're looking at the next couple of weeks! The new models are rolling out, and will be available in the near future.

Great news for you Rob!  Maybe I should have pre-ordered the new one!     I didn't get lucky, so I still have the beta version of the roaming TC and the "older" Pellet Boss without the new firmware.  I really love the roaming TC - it makes a temperature-control nerd like me very happy.  My testing showed it does exactly what we would want - keep the cook temp where the food is at the setpoint.  I sue the upper grate a lot and just place the TC up there and the MAK keeps the temp at that location like a rock.  Wish I had the new Pellet Boss firmware so I can use Wifi again - I've been bit by the dropper Wifi resetting to Smoke when the Wifi somehow drops.  Supposedly the new firmware leaves the setpoint at whatever it was set to if that happens, something mschlotz argued for a while ago.

Waiting for upgrade kits I guess....

Hey buddy- It’s happened a few times in my life where I happened to be at the right place at the right time. This happened to be one of them :) You mentioned WiFi. As far as I know, it’s better than what you are thinking. Yes, there was a point where the conversation was “let’s just get it to not revert back to smoke when it disconnects”... but now the conversation is “the WiFi issue is resolved, you should no longer be experiencing disconnects”.  That is one thing that I will be trying out right away assuming FedEx ever decides to stick to their delivery schedule and drop off my grill... lol. They were supposed to be here no later than 7 last night. Confirmed with them yesterday morning that it was on a truck and out for delivery. Nada :(
