Brunswick stew
Gumbo
Cacciatore (hunters stew)
Ciopinno
Bouillabaisse
Many cultures have a stew where you threw in the meat/seafood you could get In a savory broth/ gravy  to make it palatable.
They are variations on a theme using what is available locally.

I'd love to try a bowl of that, never did Brunswick before. The name reminds me of bowling pins and balls :)

LA - good observation. That's what makes cooking fun to me - some basic ideas or "templates" then modify to fit what is on hand and what you or you family / guests enjoy. Working with tradition, imagination, and love for the food and your guests - that's why I enjoy cooking. And stews are a great way to do this.

Cheers,

David

I like that everyone has a variation for different dishes. All across the nation and international, everyone has their own version of dishes. We can pick the best of the best with all theses post and we do make good stuff. Just look at the pics. I get a lot of good ideas this way.  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

I think that was the traditional way, but I like it with chicken, leftover pulled pork or whatever. My wife won't touch squirrel so it ain't happening here.

Ahhhh, COMFORT FOOD!!

Looking good, and thanks for the post.
I did my first batch of Brunswick Stew earlier this month. It was a hit.
I used a recipe that called for both chicken and pork.
