Wedge Salad Night
« Reply #-1 on: December 20, 2020, 08:21:21 PM »

Had a nice crisp wedge salad with Blue Cheese dressing, crisp bacon and fresh cracked black pepper.

So it wasn't just a wedge salad but half of a head of lettuce. It was HALF of a small head of iceberg. It was still a salad!

I have never understood the Wedge - not being critical to those who love them.  Is this any different that just a bowl of iceberg with dressing and toppings?  I really want to know if I missing something.

I love iceberg for the crunch.  I prefer the area closer to the core of a head of iceberg.  the wedge leaves all this intact, providing a crispy crunchy bite as opposed to the individual layers of iceberg peeled away or separated.  Typically served well chilled dressing and all.  The wedge provides a slightly different taste as the area closer to the core has a different taste than the outer leaves.  In the old days (pre 2020) of salad bars, I would always pick through the lettuce and get the chunks that were the dense leaved areas closer to the core.
