The acronym stands for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. The law was passed in 2007 but because of circumstances I did not initially qualify because according to the government at the time I was in the wrong loan program even though my employer qualified me. This year there was a change in the law that permitted me to submit for loan forgiveness and have the payments credited no matter the program I was in due to a temporary change by Congress that went into effect in 2021 and ends October 2022. This would mean a huge chunk of debt is eliminated along with a huge payment ($530/month) that goes away.
