Ah, my services are needed  :D   Old Country pits are made in Mexico and shipped out from Texas. Academy carries some as well. It is heavy gauge steel and you get alot of pit for the buck since they are made across the border. They work very well and will last a lifetime.

I think it is being sold for these reasons:  might have been his first off-set and he is not taking the time to learn how to master it. It takes a while to learn off-set cooking let alone a new one. he might be discouraged with the constant tending of the fire. Betcha he over-smoked his first cooks and the wifey said get it out of here!!!!!

This a no brainer bargain and someone is gonna score ;)

Offsets are tough to use. There is a big learning curve. Maybe just inexperienced and not getting the results they expected

He has $490 in it and wants $450 for it used? He is going to keep it for a while. Academy sells that smoker for $399 new.

My thoughts as well.  I know I had a definite learning curve with my offset, but stuck with it.

$450 is his asking price; you can bet he'll go lower.  $375 would be a fair price, since it includes the tuning plates.  Let him know that Academy has them for $399 and try offering him $350 - $375. See if he bites.

Lots of low end offsets on Craigslist (and at yard sales) all the time.  Every patio jockey who sees BBQ Pitmasters figures it's basically the same as the ones on TV but smaller.  When they realize that it isn't (and that even a nice custom offset is hard to use), they bail out.  Normally they are smart enough to know that they aren't getting anywhere close to their investment back.

And if your trying to sell something wouldn't you at least clean it? Look how dirty it is in the picture.

Does not exactly shout out to someone "try me" when it looks like it has been sitting for months with no use.

And maybe some pics of the inside.

Asking too much and showing too little IMHO.

Looks like it has literally been sitting out in the rain uncovered.  If that is only two months, it has to have been neglected to look like that.

BINGO!!! (I betcha)...I bought an offset smoker thinking I was learn to burn wood.  Didn't happen, temps were all over the place and I worked myself into a tizzy tryin' to get it right.  Finally, sold it to a guy up the street who hasn't learned to use it either.
"Offsets are tough to use" is right, Muebe.
