I think Rec-Tec has a special package that comes with frog mats, a grill cover and 200 lbs. of pellets for a really discounted amount..... ;)

Is there a poll on pellets most liked or most used or commonly bought?

You may insert on if you like. There is a button at the bottom of the page that will allow you to create a poll.  Most of the big pellet companies are either sponsoring this site, or sell their products thru on of our vendors.

I will say after building my pellet pooper I will not be using Traeger pellets.  The Traeger pellets were ok for the SRG but after using the pellets from Academy Sports there was a difference.

I have been buying pellet at Academy Sports but I am looking at buying from the vendors here.

I would start a poll but I wouldnt have the slightest clue which pellets to include lol. My luck I would pick out 5-10 brands nbody ever uses...

Any consensus on the big brands?

I suggest doing some research of all available brands locally to you besides Traeger. If there are not any then try to find a few people around you that can go in on a bulk shipment of pellets to save money.

Many people here like the Perfect Mix from www.cookinpellets.com they are also a sponsor here. I have about 120lbs of perfect mix. Have not tried it yet because I am finishing off my Bear Mountain supply first.

I have also heard good things about Lumberjack pellets.

Traeger pellets burn really hot but lack flavor IMHO due to they use a hardwood base and different flavor oils to simulate different woods. This allows their pellets to burn consistently hot and clean however. By using the same base hardwood for all their flavor pellets the BTU output will be the same.

Used them at the cook-out last year did real good with them.   If I could get the local I'd buy them for my pellet grill
