Commonly purchased options and accessories???
« Reply #-1 on: May 22, 2013, 10:51:29 PM »
What are some of the most common options and accessories purchased with a pellet grill?

Off the top off my head a cover would probably be #1 maybe a upper rack? How about grill grates or front/side shelves???

Just wondering what you purchased or are looking to purchase or even what you would recommend a newbie to purchase. I would just hate to option something out or accessorize with items that rarely get used...

For myself ordering the rec tec tomorrow I will also be ordering grill grate and a cover. I might buy one of their packages which contain pellets and a cover or even mats remote thermometers rubs and sauces...

On a side note maybe I should wait till sales come out for the holiday lol...

Here is one...

The 12 inch is perfect for a pellet grill. You can cold smoke with it or supplement your cook high temp cook with smoke ;)

A welding blanket works good to help save pellets in cold climates also. Don't know if Rec-Tec makes a thermal cover.

I will do some reading on the tube smoker thanks...

What's with the mat, what's its use? Sounds like a dumb question but I really don't get it. Is it for standing on hours at a time helping with feet and knees? Is it to keep the deck clean? Is it to keep the grill from rolling?

What exactly do you use the Maverick for?

The grill grates will be on order along with a cover and pellets...

Maverick provides eyes on the food temp and grill temp from wherever I am in my house. It works really well. Really will appreciate it in the winter time.

I have frog mats. But i don't use them very often. Good for small things that might fall through a grate.

High-heat gloves.   We get ours from here:

A *good* instant read thermometer is a must for spot checking internal temps.   I'm a Thermapen fan, but there are others out there that work just as well.

A charcoal grill for when the power is out.  ;) ;D

A pellet grill will run off a 400W inverter and battery. Those jumper systems used to start cars will work. I happen to have one fully charged at all times. Just saying ;)

I know this ain't much of an accessorie, but a Pig Tail flipper   www.amazon.com/dp/B0000AV0T8  is worth having. You can pick up steaks, chicken just about any meat with this thing.

The long one lets you reach way in the back without getting your hand burned, very nice indeed

I have the double set. Worth ever penny
