The one commercial (sort of as it is a local restaurant that also sells spices) rub I will use on brisket if I am out of or don't feel like mixing some of my own (or am short on ingredients) is Angelo's BEEF BAR-B-QUE SEASONING.  I can get it at most local Kroger or Brookshire's supermarkets and typically keep a jar of it on hand for emergencies.  It is pretty assertive, so I tend to thin it out with sugar and even then use far less rub than I normally would.

Thank you all for your input.

I was just watching videos by Aaron Franklin who owns a popular BBQ restaurant in Austin, TX. He has a 3 video segment on YouTube on cooking a brisket. His secret rub recipe is 50/50 salt and pepper liberally applied to the brisket surface.

Thanks again,

Ed
