the normal price for the 16# bag of house brand, Outdoor Gourmet (RoyalOak) at Academy is $4.99
they usually run it on sale for holiday weekends for $2.99 a bag

Yeah, I bout a truckload of that stuff before they raised the price back up (already ran out of it).  I look to see if it is back on sale every time I think about it.  It does burn a little quicker than Kingsford and the briquettes are a little smaller (so they get through the grate quicker).  There is a slightly different taste as well, but for the price you just can't beat it.

I am really glad I have 2 Academy Sports stores close to me. I get all my wood cooking pellets from them. Not sure if you all knew this or not, but the B&B brand pellets they carry are actually re-branded BBQrs Delight Pellets. Can't beat getting 20lb bags of pellets for $9.99 each.

I am really glad I have 2 Academy Sports stores close to me. I get all my wood cooking pellets from them. Not sure if you all knew this or not, but the B&B brand pellets they carry are actually re-branded BBQrs Delight Pellets. Can't beat getting 20lb bags of pellets for $9.99 each.

Check something for me Jay - would you? I am curious about these pellets.

Look ont eh bag and see if there is the mention of "flavor oils" used in those pellets...If it is, those are not from Candy Sue @ BBQer's Delight...The only other company I know that uses flavor oils is Treager.
And...since we know that Treager is making the pellet grills for Academy Sports...well - maybe they are furnishing the pellets too? Also - what is the base wood of the B and B pellets? If it is Alder - it is from the NW of the USA. Freight being what it is....That would also point to Treager as a likely source as they are up that way ( But there are a lot of other pellet producers un the Pac NW too)
If the base wood is Oak - then it is likely from the Mid-West on down to the S.E.

I also use the B & B pellets. They are a combination of oak and another wood like hickory, apple, or X. It is a 60/40 mixture of oak to whatever. A better source for me is 100 per cent oak pellets at Tractor Supply. They sell Ozark something or other that is good for both your pellet furnace and your pellet grill. Talked with them on the phone. No chemicals at all. The cost is $5.99 per 40 lb. bag. Live and learn. Ain't dead yet and they have been trying to get me for years to get me.

I don't have any of the bags to check since I store all my pellets in Kingsford Caddys. I did confirm this with Toby Foster who works in the BBQrs Delight shipping department. He said it's their pellets and they put them in the B&B branded bags for B&B to resell. The way I first found out about this was on the B&B website itself. They made a mistake and posted a picture of the BBQrs Delight Oak pellets instead of a picture of their bag. They have since updated their website. I used to order my BBQrs Delight online, but now buy the B&B ones at Academy. Really can't beat the same pellets for $9.99 for a 20lb bag. My Academy carries the Mesquite, Hickory and apple pellets.
