Thanks to All for a Great 2013
« Reply #-1 on: December 31, 2013, 12:36:31 AM »
The year is almost over and it was a busy one for the wife and me. It has been almost 4 months since she had both knees replaced. When she came home she had to use a walker and I had to do all the work. You don’t realize how much work the wives do until you have to do it! I took her for therapy 3 times a week for about 9 weeks. Each day I could see her improve. She now gets around the house without her cane but uses it when she goes out. She has gone to movies and shopping several times. I am thankful she now does most of the chores she used to do.  ::)

My hat is off to members, Scallywag, whose family endured another heart operation for little Jack just before our Thanksgiving. All you need to is look at his photos and the glint in his eyes and the grin and you know the little guy is loved and knows it! To CDN Smoker whose wife Lana had a brain tumor operation the past year and to Two Pockets whose wife Lana suffered a stroke the past year. I hope and pray that little Jack and both Lana’s are all doing well now.

Thanks to LTBBQ, sponsors, and the moderators and all the members for a great forum. You are all my friends and I know are here when I need a little company. Thanks for commenting on my cooks and thanks for sharing yours and some humor mixed in! Hope you all have a great 2014 and turn out some good BBQ!

No Replies needed, just my thanks to all

Even though a majority of us have never met in person I have gotten to know many of you on this forum personally. When there are bumps in the road for members we all can feel them because of the connection we all have. Many of you feel comfortable sharing very personal events in your lives good or bad just as you would do with close personal friend and family.

Some people may look at our passion strange. Taking pictures of our food to share on the forum ;)

But this common passion has brought us all together.

Don I really enjoy your posts because not only do you post the food and very good details on how you make it you also provide a backstory to the post relating to the food. This makes it more personal then just hey I cooked this. Very cool and keep it up!

There have been situations where we have came together on this forum behind the scenes to help fellow members out. No need to give details but I would just like to say I firmly believe that this is the best forum on the net. And those times prove that fact. A few PMs sent around and things get done :)

And what else can I say that Don did not. I too am glad to hear everyone is doing better with their health problems. Glad to see that little Jack is recovering well. It hits home for me because I have young children and can't imagine them going through what Jack did.

So here is to wishing everyone a great New Year and be safe tonight! Tim's on call Bondsman is off for the next few days so keep out of trouble everyone 8)

Excellent post, Don, and very well said, muebe.

I'm still a newcomer to LTBBQ, but have found it to be among the few special places on the 'net where folks gather with no agendas, and nothing to prove - just open, honest communication.  I established a forum dedicated to video gaming since 2009, with members very much like this one - we call ourselves "mature" gamers  ;D  It and it's children are the only ones on which I regularly post.

All I can say is many thanks to T2, all the admins and moderators, and most of all, the fine folks that make this special place what it is.

It's been a great time so far, and am eagerly looking forward to all the stories, and cooks in 2014!

To Don, and - all other posters:

YOU are the reason for this forum - and most importantly -YOU are the reason for the "personality" of this forum. As I have said on many occasions - and will continue to remind all: This is YOUR forum. Yes, we will have to make some decisions that can't be a public vote - but you can trust that the continued growth and success of LTBBQ as a USER DRIVEN forum will always remain our focus.

May your 2014 be the best year yet!
