I think I make less money every year. My raise doesn't cover cost of living.
Raise?  What is a raise?   I have not seen a raise in 7 years, good thing both the kids are out of the house cause I couldn't afford to feed to boys anymore.  Kimmie eats like a bird at night  :) :) :)

If American Ranchers were really smart, they would find contacts with the Japanese but then you would have to go through a world of hurt with exportation and FDA bullsh*t. They get $100.00 per lb. for aged rib eye steak.

Electric and natural gas has gone up alot over the last few years also.  Plus they added a Fuel Surcharge to our bills out here now.  To cover the cost of gas for there trucks.  Also have a Green Energy Research charge now.  We havent had raises in a bit, but they keep raising the cost of our health insurance.  This year it went up 100 amonth to keep your spouse on. If they work for a company that offers health insurnce.

The grass is not so much of a problem because it is there and replenishes itself. However, in New Mexico water is like gold. We have to pay for electricity to operate some of our pumps and diesel fuel for others to keep troughs full. The 100k is gross revenue. Nothing comes for nothing. However we do have surface water locations on the property as well that comes down from the mountains.

ENERGY is the most costly resource to acquire. There is nothing on the horizon that will force ENERGY TO GO DOWN IN PRICE!

UNDER MY PROPERTY there is a field of natural gas. For five years the company that wants to pump this gas out for market cannot get approval to retrieve this fuel. Why? Why? Fuel prices for fossil fuel keeps rising and takes a big bite out of the individual Americans paycheck. Homeowners in the Northeast who fuel their heat in the winter are paying record prices for oil fired heat and natural gas with supplies very low especially after this winter. Is there no relief of American families. And why can't I take advantage of a great business opportunity to make some good money by pumping out this fuel on my property?

What is wrong with this picture? The OP complained about high prices especially for beef and food. Why? Why do Americans have to suffer because of high Energy prices when this country is sitting on the largest most diversified supply of energy in the world?

I am lucky to have a butcher / market that process in house. Local farmers sell direct to them and supply the animals to be butchered. Keeps the cost down for us consumers.
