30 lbs of pork bellies today
« Reply #-1 on: April 16, 2014, 05:29:26 PM »
Went to my RD today for pork bellies. While freezing in their cooler room, the single packages of bellies were 2.86 a pound but the case price was 3.19. Normally I just pick up the case and go, but this time I said what the hey? and picked up 3 single cryovac packages. Got to the checkout and sure enough, I was charged for the case price of 3.19. I told the checker about the price and after the stocker going back and forth, I was charged the advertised price of 2.86, saving big 10 bucks on the purchase. Told the checker I should have got a couple more, but 3 is all that will fit in the fridge while curing. This this was skinless bellies as well

Good looking bellies.  Any special seasoning/smoking in mind?  I can highly recommend Tenthunter's Cider Mill Bacon.  It is some of the best bacon I have tasted.

That is a great price - especially for skinless. I've done two with Tenpoint5's and wasn't disappointed. My next bacon cure will be using Tenthunter's Cider Mill Bacon.
Love to cook and eat

Definitely a good price for the bellies. I can also recommend Tenthunter's cider mill bacon. My last batch
was the cider mill bacon and it was the best bacon I have ever eaten. Give it a try.

Nice score rexster. I went to cash and Carry today to get some beef for jerky and it would of cost me sixty bucks for a full packer top round and the wife said no :) I'll just get a couple London broils at Albertsons or Safeway.

I've been using Morton TQ and brown sugar for years with good results.

Nice snag! :o  $2.86/lb is a great price for bellies, especially right now and especially considering they're skinless!
