Sunday's other cooks (Picture Heavy)
« Reply #-1 on: May 04, 2014, 09:33:59 PM »
Before I could do the wife's early birthday dinner I needed to cook a couple of whole yardbirds that were on sale for .90 a pound for some quick meals this week and I wanted to do a loaf of crusty rye bread.

I used 2 tsp.'s of caraway seeds but I think I either needed more or to do a rough crush on the seeds first to get more flavor out of them.

The first bird was seasoned with Penzy's BQ300 and it turned out pretty tasty.

I think my knife skills on chicken are improving, the scraps next to the carcass are treats for our old Basset Hound

And the second bird was seasoned with Penzy's Cajun Seasoning which was very good but not as spicy as I thought it would be. You can tell it had more sugar in it than I thought it would.

Thanks everyone, it was all good. With the price of beef and pork climbing I'm having to get creative with the yard birds.

Looks awesome!  I am very intrigued by all the bread I see baked on here.  Is there any hint of smoke flavor in the bread when it is done?   Thanks

I do my bread in the oven so no smoke flavor unless I add smoked cheese and smoked bacon.

Just had a late night snack of rye bread with some thin sliced smoked eye of round beef.
