Sitting here feeling a bit sorry for myself today For years and years, I have grilled/cooked/ etc., for the mother of our wonderful children, my mother and often, my mother in law. My wife is with our older son in the DC area--he sent her the ticket for Mother's Day so she could go observe the spring bird migration. She's an avid birder. My mother has been gone for almost 18 years and my mother in law for five. Really a bit different. Also, often one or more of our kids would come home, bringing their kids with them. A bittersweet day, to be sure. But, still have my wife (almost 52 years), our three kids and six grandkids. God IS good.
