SRG Butt #1
« Reply #-1 on: April 13, 2015, 11:09:09 PM »
I'll never catch up to Tommy but with his help my first shot at pulled pork in the SRG won't be my last. Every one at the Capitol that I shared it with for lunch loved it. Here it is rubbed up with the Texas version of CYM also known as Whataburger's Mustard and rubbed with my favorite no sugar rub.

Still in the basket and done at almost 8 hours of the SRG version of low and slow pulled at 205 IT

Unwrapped after 3 hours of FTC, still to hot to pull by hand

Shredded and ready to mix up with a light dose of Stubbs Original since I don't have any of my homemade sauce with me

I have to finish with a big thank you to Tommy (TMB) our resident SRG Jedi Warrior!

One of the small bright spots in my 6 month exile to Austin is that the only drive thru on the way home is a Whataburger. I'll stop and pick me up a number 1 with bacon and cheese in your honor when I finally leave work tonight. ;)

Had a few Whataburgers in Phoenix years ago - favorite place.  But I have to say this looks better!

Sabor, that SRG butt looks delicious. Only a couple hundred more and you can catch up to Tommy. I can't remember the last time I had a Whataburger.....oh, yeah, it was at lunch today. I always get the #1 combo with cheese and I always whatasize it. That's only about 2000 calories so I get the diet Dr Pepper because I'm watching my figure.

Looks perfect from here!  ;)     I tell you SRG's crank out some good pulled pork.

So glad it worked out for you.  Now you need to cook 120 more to catch me :D :D :D :D :D

Did the 205 IT seem right to you? Or would your rather pull it sooner at 195 to 200??

I can proudly say I eat more Whataburgers in a year than Tommy's has done butts in the SRG "butt" that's as close as I can ever get to his accomplishments with the SRG. He'd have to stop doing them for anyone to catch up.

Tommy, 205 was perfect it hand pulled and shredded into pork spaghetti with great ease, it's moist and tender. I was only using the side smoke box because I haven't picked up a tommy ring so I got a lighter smoke than I think I would have gotten with a ring and more pellets.
