Tri-Tip Steaks??
« Reply #-1 on: May 26, 2014, 11:05:12 PM »
Found these at wallyworld the other day and since I had never seen that cut before I had to pick up a package and give them a go on the SRG, seasoned them up with some Texas Roadhouse seasoning which the wife loves and accompanied them with some Brussels sprout/potato hash, since the wife loves mater's and me not so much I plated mine and threw a cut up Roma in hers for a minute. They cooked up to a nice Medium and were melt in the mouth tender, I will pick these up again for sure.

Didn't think about it that way Capn' I was just thinking I never see Tri-Tip roasts in the store around here, but that makes good sense. I bet with the thickness and marbling that they were left over's from trimming sirloin steaks.

X2.   If your steaks taste anything like tri-tip roast you got a whole bunch of great flavor! Nice cook!

I used to buy Tri-Tip steaks at Costco for years and we really enjoyed them.  Costco still sells them ... After seeing your cook I need to pick me up some again!

Before Retirement I would take the steaks, cut them in half (so they were thinner) season em and grill them on the propane grill.  Lickity split ... done in no time and really good stuff!!
