This is a "cross-cultural" ( meaning - any kind of outdoor cooking equipment) NON-competition...Like a big backyard cookout! Bring what you use! We are a group of BBQ/smoking/grilling folks that are holding our 2nd annual Fall Gathering will be Sep 25-30 with the primary dates being Sep 29-30. We have a church recreational facility on Clark's Hill Lake, which is just north of Augusta, GA on the Savannah River available to us. All you have to pay is a donation as to what you want to pay. You can come to the facility on the 26th on as I will be there starting that day.
We have some video links that I can e-mail you that show the facility - just e-mail if interested.
There will be some demonstration cooks, and we have commitments from several vendors to be present and/or send product for raffles to help pay for the event. It is an event that has never ending food, fun, and friends. And - the scenery is the best tall pines and lake GA has to offer. This is not out in a pasture on on asphalt. It is located in s State Park. A great vacation spot.
We have a commercial kitchen, large dining hall, bunkhouse and a few cabins. ( YES - air conditioned!) Camping on several levels is available, as well as space for RV's and trailers
So - if you are interested in attending, please contact me so that we can get your space reserved.
Thanks!

It has the same controller as my Memphis...

And it has a center mounted fire pot I think.....

And it has a center mounted fire pot I think.....
Yes it does. The hopper is a split one in the back. Nice design for mixing different pellets but keeping them separated still ;)
-
I think you need to come out here and test out the pit, and do a write up on 'em! :D
-
I think Rec Tec is a mighty fine pellet grill. It will be interesting to see how that particular gang responds. Hope they get some converts!
-
O.K.! - We now have a commitment form BBQer's Delight! They will be sending us some nice products to raffle as well!
Thanks Candy Sue!

I attended the Fall Gathering with Tee. With a full truck and a trailer packed to the gills, there was only room for the two of us in the cab. We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies, minus the rocker and Granny on the roof!! I had a really great time meeting all the folks who attended. The food was fantastic. Tommy's breaded cube steaks were a keeper. I will be doing them at home. His surprise dish (BBQ'd goat) was very tasty, too. Tee's Cuban pork was off-the-charts. We talked about that on the way home. All it needed was a bowl of black beans and some fried plantains, with a nice cold cerveza on the side. Pam's donuts were wonderful. I am already making plans to do them at home. Dee's Brusnwick stew was some of the best I have had. Terry's shrimp and sausage were great. The surprise chocolate birthday cake from Donna was, well, a surprise. She made it using mayonnaise. I had two pieces. When Rick showed up, I really felt at home. I blame him for getting me hooked making my own sausage and curing meats. It was like old home week with him there. I was able to spend some quality time with most everyone that attended. Our Saturday night BS session ended up in a laughfest. I can't wait until the next one.

It was a good event and good time. Art and Rick - great to meet you and oh baby I enjoyed the food you made. Goes without saying that Tommy outdid his-own-self with the shear volume of cooking...but T2 seems to me was step-for-step cooking too. What I think T2 needed was a bit more equipment...thass all... 8)
T2 and I discussed how to stage these around the country and keep the costs down...one of the most difficult aspects is location with enough facility to really make cooking easier and the overall experience positive for families to attend as well ---- I'm sure he and I will be talking more about it and start up a thread.

Heck Barry, I ran out of food to cook!! I was even thinking of stealing Tee's pineapple and wrap it with the left over bacon and use his Pig Rub for good measure! ;)
I love the fall gathering, like a family reunion!
-
I know I'm late to the party, but I also enjoyed seeing everyone at the Fall Gathering. I took a little video of the happenings at the Gathering and have finally had a little time to work on it. Just a rough draft, but you can get the picture. Here's the link:
