Just Kiddin'...
Now that I have your attention, I want to be sure you know about the Fall Cookout with Bremer.
YOU are invited to join a number of other forum members here in Byron, GA (on I-75) for a couple of days of food and fellowship. A few folks are coming in on Thur, Oct 8th and some will be staying until Sunday, the 11th.
Here's what we'll do...Deb and I, along with Albert and Sylvia will be hosting. We'll provide the paper products, ice, charcoal, gas and a number of sides. Usually folks get their stuff squared away a local hotels, etc. and come on in.
There is NOT a schedule per se. We hang out and cook together (and EAT together). There are several grocers just minutes away. If you get an idea you want to cook something for everybody to try, you go get it and put it in the fire. We have the offset smoker, a 4-burner infrared, 2 Weber Kettles, an Akorn, an "argentine-style" grill, a Masterbuilt, and a barrel cooker - AND an Anova Sous Vide. You also have access to the stove inside.
You can choose how and what you want to cook (or NOT cook).
Our's is a humble home, but you will be more than welcomed while you're here.
I regret we have no overnight accommodations, but there are many hotels and suites just minutes away. If you want to meet up with someone and share a suite together, that could work.
Please help us out this way: If you are planning to come over, please reply to this post - if you have questions or helpful ideas, send me a private message or email me. We need to know how many folks to prepare for and how long you'll be here.
When you see the list, you'll DEFINITELY want to be here.
You can come for Friday only, Saturday only or whenever...we're gonna be here anyway.
Now please...go ahead and hit the "reply" button and let's get it on!

You about killed me with that title... I know you are laughing...
I really want to try the Argentine Grill - so will look for some meats when I get there. Mostly, I want to hang out and meet everyone. I'll give some more thought to what to cook as we get closer.
Any hotels for about $6 nearby? ;) ;D

David I went through Wyndham Rewards and got a room at the Byron Days Inn. They still have a few rooms left. But there are several
motels in the area. Also at the last get together I did wings on the Argentina Grill. Excellent!

Wish I could make it. It would've been a fun ride.

That's what we're talking about, David, having the opportunity to meet the folks you've been chattin' with for years.
We don't want anybody to feel like they have to cook. Somehow it all works out...nobody goes away hungry.

Sorry we are out of sync, sir...
Typically, this event depends on IR2DUM's schedule...it usually works out to be the first or second weekend in October.
This event started a few years ago when Bremer called me and said he was on his way back home to Houston. His route through Atlanta was a couple of hours north, but he wanted to take the time to come down and meet us. We had a great visit and supper. The next time he scheduled his trip to NC we called some members and asked if they wanted to be here for supper and to meet DON. Heck yeah, everybody wanted to meet Don. Now, he makes a business trip from Houston to NC twice a year and he is always gracious enuff to go out of his way to come see us and we always have a cookout. Last October there were 6 of us for the cookout. On his springtime migration, we had 12 or more. This Cookout will include even more people from the forum...everyone wants to meet Don. He IS the most interesting man in the world - and he doesn't even drink!
Seriously, though, we just make our place available for folks to get together and invite anyone who wants to come. It is a very special time when forum members who have chatted thru the years to finally meet face to face.
-
... everybody wanted to meet Don.
Really? Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Jaxon, just stop. If you keep that up, I'll have to change my name to Saint IR2dum. Everybody all ready knows me and knows that my name is 2dum for a reason so that ship has all ready sailed. I'm just thankful that you let me participate and hang out with everybody. I hope that there will be a lot of old and especially new faces there. It really is a great time. Jaxon and Deb are the most gracious hosts with a beautiful home and backyard. Folks, don't miss this opportunity to meet all your friends in a friendly environment, make new friends, learn a lot about outdoor cooking, and overdose on great food. See you there.

Turtle, you loved meeting me and you know it.
Shh! I was trying to keep the rest of them (not to mention SWMBO) from getting jealous.

Here's a little taste of what you can expect at Backyard Jack's next month.
