The most popular veggie proteins are the Quorn Garlic n Herb Chik'n and Field Roast sausages. I do both of these on a relatively hot grill and they (apparently) work out pretty well. Big marinated portabella mushroom caps are also a go-to as well as marinated kebabs. I bought a grill pan last year and also do veggies like green beans and brussel sprouts both with just olive oil, salt and pepper. The options are tough, though, especially because she doesn't like too much smoke flavor.

Welcome to the group - also from the Chicago area (BG).  Lots of great ideas and encouragement here.

I have a few friends who are vegetarian.  I would be curious to see if you've been able to come up with a few dishes that appeals to yours wife's likings.

And...help us ALL - by posting some vegetarian friendly recipes. Most of us have friends or family that purposely deprive their bodies of animal based proteins :D...SO - we can always use ideas on what to prepare to feed them when they visit.
P.S. EVERY vegan or vegetarian I have known - holds out  little space in their diet for...BACON.... ;D ;)

Tee - I'll definitely post veggie recipes. And I believe bacon is technically an herb so I see no reason a vegetarian would need to pass it up. ;D

KJR - thanks for the heads up on the BBQ class. I've heard about that and interested to hear how it goes. I live about 15 minutes from there so if it's any good I'll have to check it out.

The class was AWESOME!  I'll start a new thread and write about it tomorrow.
