I have the same problem - so, I just cook my chicken for myself and everyone else's for them.

I used this adaptation: http://amazingribs.com/recipes/chicken_turkey_duck/big_bob_gibsons_white_sauce.html
Nice and tangy, plus a welcome change to all the sweet bbq sauces 8)

I tried it once a couple years ago but never made it since! Don

What's in the white sauce?
Here is the recipe that I have had for years.
Big Bob Gibson's White BBQ Sauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 teaspoon prepared horseradish
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons apple cider
Combine all ingredients in bowl and mix well.

I have made a variation of Bob Gibson's white sauce a bunch of times, the family loves it. Nice cook buddy!
-
OK you have now successfully piqued my curiosity.
So with the white sauce -- does this go on after the chicken is done cooking?
Does it go back to the pit after putting it on?
Another item added to my "gotta try" list. This list is quickly catching up to my honey-do list.
Thank you

In case I am wrong - remember I live in Minnesota.... ??? 8)
But when I've used it, I've grilled the chicken first and served with the sauce on the side for dunking or drizzling...
-
I have done both, normally I have the sauce on the chicken after cooking, but I have also sauced the chicken for the last ten minutes of the cook then had sauce on the side. All good.

I watched a couple videos on this the other day. They dunked or mopped with the white sauce. Then back on the grill for a couple of minutes. The white sauce turned almost clear. I want to try this
-
I apply it the last few minutes of cooking. It really tenderizes the chicken. If you apply it early the chicken gets too tender and falls apart.
