I figured I would fill a can full of wood chips and give it a try. The ribs had a better smoke flavor than throwing chips on the charcoal or wrapping them in foil. (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/26/0553dcef7b73d258abf70f2eb9a13cc3.jpg) then i out on ribs and a hour later added half chickens. (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/27/6d4fba9ed8fcc57f1e5ae50efb332373.jpg) thanks all, had a pretty nice smoke ring too

That is a sweet smoke ring.
How about a smoke bomb made out of HD foil. Tenthunter showed me some pics of those and they produce some serious smoke.
The Smoke says you can never get enough smoke 8)

Great looking plate!

I tried a smoke bomb a few times. This way seemed to penetrate the meat a little better
-
Looks like it worked pretty well
I would always use a can with a few chips in it on my gas smoker and always had plenty of smoke for about an hour and a half. Then just reloaded it with another can of chunks
-
interesting idea.......gotta ask a stupid question though because id like to try and duplicate your method. at what point did you put the can in the basket?
-
When I put the hot coals around it before putting the charcoal tray in the barrel
