I prefer smaller butts , about 6-8 lbs, Butt all I could find were 9-10 lbs ???
Wife sprung a cook for 50 on me :'(
Got 29 lbs of butt, mustard, with almost my last of Tim's BBQ rub :(
4 small butts fit fine on Akorn but these were tight, went with 2 on bottom & 1 on top.

Springing a cook for 50? Trying to imagine how that conversation starts.....

My son-in-law has the same issue - and same solution - with his Vision. Fortunately, my daughter hasn't sprung the "Guess who's coming over for dinner tomorrow" yet ! ! !

You packed that Acorn well!

After 7 hours on the Akorn & 3 hours foiled @ 225F the butts are done!
Let cool for 1 hr & then deboned & bagged .
The drippings were saved for reheating & bags dropped into chest freezer for an hour to rapidly cool off.
The pork will be reheated & served Tuesday nite for my wife's choir party @ someone else's home ;D

Lookin' large, LA...
I am really glad you steered me toward the AKORN. I have been using it alot since you told me how to set the temps.
Friday, I cooked a 10 1/2 lb butt therein by cutting it into 2 pieces. Set it at 225* and let it go - very little tending to it. When the pork was done, raised the temp to 325 and cooked some wings over direct heat, adding a little cherry wood to the mix.

Tommy, as Nike says "Just Do It". It's easier to ask for forgiveness than ask permission. Yeah, uh huh. :)
