Partner Billy Merrill and I (team Holy Smoke NC) are attending Jim Burg's (Killer B's) competition barbeque school today and tomorrow here in balmy Evans, GA (heat wave today -- up to 40 degrees!). Looking forward to sharpening things up for the 2015 season.
Yesterday before I left, my grandson was curious why I would attend a cooking school. "You are already a good cook, Poppy" he commented. "Why are you going to a cooking school?"
I told him there are two very good reasons: First, there is always somebody who can cook better than I can and second, you never stop learning. That was my "granddad" answer. What I didn't add is that I'm bored silly and need a barbeque fix. For some reason April seems way, way too far in the future ::)

Have fun, looking forward to seeing what you learn ;)

Sounds like we may need another lunch get together to find out more about your school. We'll see if "two old dogs" can be taught new tricks.

Yes, teach Sparky about ribs :D lord knows he is a little lost in that category ;)
No really, Sparky could teach a class on ribs and we could all learn

Have fun Hub!
I truly believe the school will learn more from you then what they can teach you.

The good news is, there should still be plenty of snow on ground when you get back from your tropical retreat ! ! !
See you in Kings Mtn. ! ! !

Heck, they ought to have Hub teach the class 8)
They say you should learn something everyday. I was talking to Bill Cannon this morning and he told me he has 3 new rubs in the works. Still have to be perfected. I told I figured he was gonna rest on his laurels after he brought out "Grand Champion" a while back. Nope, he said. He is constantly trying to improve his BBQ. As good as Hub is, he is looking to improve......there is a lesson in that for all of us.
I try to get better by hanging around here with all of you :)
