Title: Newbie from Kentucky
Post by: solobaric on April 02, 2015, 11:21:41 PM
Hey Guys. A relatively new pellet-head here. Bought a Traeger Lil Tex a few months ago. Never smoked anything before that. Now it's my new obsession, lol. I've finally gotten to where I'm producing some pretty decent butt so I was doing some research on what to try next. I stumbled upon this site after comtemplating that most feared of meats, the one that strikes fear into the hearts of Vegans and carnivore cooks alike, the brisket!! Hope to try and smoke some soon.

Welcome solobaric. ( I used to have a sound competition car...I understand "solobaric".... ;D )

We have a number of folks here that will share all they know with you about the mighty brisket. You might want to look at Hub's section called "Burn It in the Backyard", at the top of the index page. He has some great advice that will get you on track quickly.

Look around, and dig in. We are all students of art art of smoke here!

Yeah I think I've tried smoking everything in the house so far, lol. Made some bacon wrapped donut holes the other day. Everyone thought I was crazy, but they vanished before they even had a chance to cool off.

Welcome!  Lots and lots of pellet cooker drivers around here.

Here's what T mentioned:  http://www.letstalkbbq.com/index.php?topic=617.0

It isn't so much a recipe as it is an approach.  I intend for folks to use it as a base for their own creativity.

Don't agonize over brisket -- that's for competitor cooks like me.  All you have to do is the basics and get close and you'll have a memorable meal.
