Title: Hello from Mid Alabama
Post by: TwoPockets on December 11, 2011, 10:49:49 AM
Hi, my name is Ken (sounds like the introduction at a 12 step program) and I was born and raised here in mid Alabama, currently living just south of Birmingham. I grew up with a Mom and Grandmother who were both great Southern cooks and I married a lady who was also. My cooking was limited to the standard backyard grilling, hot dogs, hamburgers, pork chops and steaks. When my wife became ill and later passed away I had to learn to cook for real in order to survive and feed two teenage kids. The grill was still my strong point but I had to expand my horizons. I later married a fine Southern Lady who learned to cook at the feet of her Mother and Grandmother. She is probably one of the best cooks I have known and has greatly increased my knowledge of cooking. Over the last 12 years my outdoor and indoor cooking abilities have greatly improved and even more since I have found forums like this and found folks like y'all who can teach me so many new things.

Anyway Life Is Good (at least my t-shirt says it is). I look forward to learning more from my current friends on here and new ones to come.

No production of "Hamlet" would be complete without you boys from AL, Ken! ;D

You should that you are a much welcomed addition to the community here. Hope you will keep us on our toes. You did after all - point out that truly awesome pizza is not only found in The City.... ;)

Welcome Ken.
A BBQ-a-holic is someone that can't admit that they have a problem.

So if you admit you are a BBQ-a-holic, you don't have a problem!

Welcome Buddy...good to see you survived Black Friday!!
How is December treating you over at Academy??

Hello Ken (you're right, it does sound like that...) I am happy to see you here and I appreciate your comments as I have gone through my "troubles". The support and the gentle kick in the keester were appreciated and they helped more that you know. Thank you!
