Hey everyone. I’m Scott, a new member and a resident in the High Point, NC area since 1999. I’ve been an active woodworker all my life, both professionally and as a hobbyist. I am a Trainer for a German owned hardware company, and in years past have managed stores for and or been an Instructor for Shopsmith Inc. in Dayton Ohio, Boston Mass and Columbus Ohio. My woodworking interests tend towards the Shaker and Mission style, but mostly I enjoy restoring tools and building jig and fixtures.
My family and friends make fun of my obsessions and no one is surprised that I’m jumping into smoking as my latest hobby. I feel a bit like the character that Mel Gibson played in the movie “Conspiracy Theory”, who had an obsessive compulsion to find the book “The Catcher in the Rye”, and if he found it he had to buy it and then the search began to find the next copy. The difference here is I collect hobbies, so I don’t feel so bad. Really I'm just passionate about understanding how things work and how things are made.
I’m into three wheeled cars, wooden gear clocks, corn cob pipes, watching and making Youtube videos, classic toys (PEZ) and researching US patents to learn what I can about subjects that interest me. Wow, I just re-read what I just typed and realized what a nerd I am! Oh well, maybe a new smoker will pacify me. I just purchased a new Camp Chef PG24S, which is my first venture into the pellet world, and as I await delivery my Googling brought me here. I was blown away by the thread titled "Camp Chef Pellet Grill" by smokeasaurus and after reading the confirmation letter that came during the registration process I knew I had found the right place. I look forward to getting to know you and learning from you all.
Well, that’s enough for now. As Dad said "Son, not everything needs to be said."

And a welcome from near Brevard NC! Many here can self-identify as BBQ "nerds"...and I am a multi-tasking nerd about many interests. Likely an un-diagnosed kid with ADHD, OCD and a large dose of "anal retentive"...do - I have always gone "whole hog" to borrow a BBQ phrase :D....

As you doubtless already know, there are a tom of pellet-heads that frequent this place. I don't happen to be one of them, but they're all great guys (gals) who are willing to share experiences and provide sound advice.

Hi Scott.
Welcome from a fellow newbie here - looking forward to this next adventure we're taking with pellet cooking.
FWIW, I like my PEZ candies stale. I actually keep them open for a few weeks before eating.
