I've always made my own rubs and have used a few that I've picked up at nice hardware stores that have good outdoor cooking sections. Any ones you really suggest I purchase? I'm planning on Steak It and will be getting some Tatanka dust w/my vortex. I will probably ask the same question over in recipes area for some make my own.

Jan's rub. The recipe is widely available and you can't go wrong with it.
-
Savor spices rubs, Oakridge ribs and big Dicks rubs.

Which I believe I've read that I can get all those from you right sparky??

yep killer rub! Also buy Bad Byron's butt rub and Tim's Super Pig For steaks I but gunpowder

Can't go wrong with Jan's Rub for sure as a make your own.
For a sugar free rub I always go with Bolner's Fiesta Brand Texas Style Steak Seasoning, but you also can't go wrong with the Savor's, Dizzy Pig's, Penzey's or any of the others mentioned here.

Where do I start? ;) ;)
-
Sweet Lou's Roast Rub
Fagundes
Gary's Original
Fine Swine and Bovine (Savor Spices ) email Teesquare for the jumbo bottle.......don't waste your time on the regular size, this stuff is so good it will be gone quick
Sutphens Texas Thunder
McCormicks Smokehouse Maple
Jane's crazy mixed up salt
PBC meat and game rub
I could go on and on but my wrists are getting sore ;)
-
I usually make my own rub, but here's the ones I've tried and liked:
For pork - Lambert's Sweet Rub O'Mine, BPS Sweet Money
For beef - BPS Cash Cow
-
I make a lot of my own variations of variations! :D
But Jan's Rub is a fine one!
Premade/commercial I love Savor Spices whole line, I'm really digging Big Dick's lineup, and I've got one in the stoker to try next, that a friend from our site here gave me. It's his personal blend so I can't tell you anymore or I'd have to snuff you! :D The best rubs IMO are low in salt and high in flavor!
Rubs are fun! 8)

Awesome I've definitely added a few to my list and pappy team will be hearing from me shortly. Lamberts is one that really sticks out I've found it a few times and always grab it. The Performer's maiden cook happens tonight. Have good ribeyes dry salt brining and will throw on some freshly made Jan's right before cook. Asparagus twice baked/grilled spuds, and some to be determined kind of mushroom sauce. Unless I ruin them it won't be unicorn meat I promise.

Set a plate for Pappy

Well scratch the Jan's for tonight just looked it up to throw it together, and it's a bbq rub. Whoops I misread I think. It's gonna get made just not for ribeyes. Sounds like a good choice for the PBC for ribs on Tuesday though... Can't wait.

I've been wanting to try Meat Church Honey Hog, anyone try that?
I have tried their honey hog sweet and hot. Both are excellent! To add a little more flavor to those 2 I used Meat Church Deez Nuts Pecan rub. I don't think
you can go wrong with these.
-
I have and like lots of others but here are my "top 3" in terms of what I use the most:
Smokin' Guns Hot -- great tang and not really hot either. Not sweet. Doesn't burn or turn black. Goes well with a sweet sauce on chicken or ribs.
Cimarron Doc's -- sweet but with a lot of flavor depth. Will burn and turn black under high heat. Mix it with a spicy, salty rub to balance things out. Chickens beg to be coated with it.
McCormick Montreal Steak -- best thing anyone ever made for beef and it's relatively cheap.

Honey hog is real good. So is there Deez Nuts, best pecan rub around IMHO.............

My favorite go to Rubs are Penzey's Galena St. Chicken & rib rub and their Cajun and have used the following which I like.
Savor Spices
Blues Hog
Stubbs
McCormicks
Weber
Pappy's Choice
Smokin Don
-
My favorite rub for pork is 3 Eyez. For chicken its Victory Lane All Purpose. Both of those work well with all meats. For ribs, its Mama Stumps Rib Rub. Plowboys Yardbird is also a very good multiple purpose rubs.

Savor spices rubs, Oakridge ribs and big Dicks rubs.

Yes.
So where's you're menu at sir? Maybe I haven't looked deep enough on site.

Personally, I love
Sweet Swine O Mine for ribs.
I also bought some Running Wild rubs that I really like and was recommended here - the Pork Candy Maple Bourbon was really good! Their other Peach rub was pretty good and will be trying a poultry rub tomorrow...

FrugalQ, the revolving marquee above the threads are site sponsors. They keep the lights on here, so to speak, thru their generosity. Please patronize them whenever possible! If you see something interesting click on it.

I absolutely will be buying from some of the sponsors, I guess I didn't realize that there were somewhat competing sponsors. I'm sure I'll be getting a lil of everything from everyone.

FrugalQ, it's not so much competition, more like consideration. There is a whole thread section for individual sponsors. So to discuss buying from a sponsor you should be in that sponsors area. It's just being polite to those that pay the bills here!
-
Definitely understandable. I was gonna post a thread somewhere in the lines of "$50-$60 to spend on rubs. What would you buy?" I guess it's copacetic as long as I'm not asking who to buy from?
