Title: Hello from Austin, Texas.
Post by: Martin G on May 22, 2017, 02:18:53 PM
I found the forum by searching for information on the Pit Barrel Cooker.  So glad I landed here.  I've spent a lot of time on other forums devoted to my other hobbies and have seen some ugly things.  It's very refreshing to find a place like this!

Like any guy, I've done a little grilling but I'd really like to improve my techniques.  A buddy of mine has gotten into smoking and after tasting the results I decided I'd like to get into it too.  I did a fair amount of research and decided on the PBC as the first step.  My wife bought it for me as an early Father's Day gift.  I did an Italian meatloaf on it last week and she wants brisket for Memorial Day.   :)  The meatloaf came out really well.  That was encouraging.

Looking forward to learning and participating in the forum.

Welcome from the Pacific Northwest.  That is an awesome gift - congrats.  Looking forward to hearing about your cooks/processes, and seeing your results.

The PBC creates a "grease fog" from meat/seasoning drippings falling to the lit coals below creating a "gran-pappy" type pit flavor other smokers can not create.

Congrats on a real smart decision.

When you post your PBC cooking pictures, you can post them in the Pit Barrel Cooker Forum Sponsor section. This way you get good exposure and Noah and Amber will sure appreciate it  :)

You will not find the "shenanigans" that go on at other forums round these parts. This is a nice friendly place where you can post your current smoked masterpiece or you can post about how your cooked failed and off for fast food you went for supper. Welcome home..........................
