Hello all - just joining up today, though I've been a fair weather member of various other BBQ forums over the past 12 years or so. I'm a 41-year old step-dad of two littles and a backyard BBQ guy. I've been cooking (admittedly very sporadically over the past 4-5 years) on a UDS that I built back in the winter of 2010. Before that I spent a couple years putting smoke to meat one of the Masterbuilt Electric 30-inch units. More recently I've had the Green Mountain Grills Davy Crockett (love it for camping/hunting/tailgating) and an older Daniel Boone that I bought used and just never developed the proper "feelins" for . . . actually re-sold it here about 2 weeks ago. Thinking pretty hard about selling my UDS as well with the idea of upgrading to a charcoal/wood, smoker/grill combo to give me more capacity (for no real good reason), more versatility (so I can play around a little with sticks), and for the fun of it. My big "want" right now is a Lone Star Grillz 20x offset, but I'm struggling to talk my wife into why it makes sense to spend $2400 (by the time I get the add-ons I want and get it shipped to MT) for "another grill." :) I've also been looking hard at The Good One (Open Range or Heritage Oven), the Assassin charcoal grills (36 or 48), the Meadow Creek SQ36, and a Johnson Custom Smokers Compact Patio or Rolling Tailgater. In other words, I'm a little bit all over the place, but any feedback that any of you can provide on any of those models or something you think would be a good alternative would be much appreciated. I actually found this site by searching for reviews on the SQ36. I had seen where smokeasaurus had done a review on that unit and then later on the Open Range. I'll me PM'ing him directly with a few pointed question.
Oh, and I currently grill on a 22-inch Weber or a Weber Spirit gas-burner when I'm lazy or in a big hurry. That's probably a longer intro than any of you needed, but then I guess you could have stopped reading any time you want. ;D Thanks in advance for any input or ideas!

Welcome from New Mexico. I love Montana! Spent a summer in my teenage years road-tripping up the Rockies and ended up in Glacier National Park for a few weeks...
