Hello to New and Old friends on this new site for me,
I started smoking and cooking game and store bought meat over a open camp fire when I was 12 yo. That is how I could get my Dad to take me along on his fishing and hunting trips. He was a good outdoors man, but he couldn't ( or didn't want to ) cook. Things progressed from there from pit to spit to hole in the ground to crank up and down and later the kettle and ppg. I grew older and older, but my love for good "Q" never waned. Yes, I am a addict and I continue to buy smoking toys, and learn from other smokers. I look forward to learn more from the old and new friends on this forum.

Welcome Charlie. Remember, before you grill you have to season the stuff. Phil

Welcome Charlie. One of the things I have been pleasantly surprised to learn is that there are a lot of you folks from the left coast that enjoy good BBQ and really know how to cook it. Down South we always thought real BBQ was a Southern thing but I have found out it is all over and some things like Santa Maria style cooking and cuts of meat like tri-tip were brought about from you guys out west. Hope to hear about and see some pictures of your cooks.

TwoPockets, I was born and raised in rural Middle Tennessee, McMinnville. Moved to Calif. 1971. My Southern roots run deep, espcially when smoking/making BBQ. Thanks for the welcome.
