Thanks for the tip for this site. Looking forward to expanding my BBQ / Grilling / Smoking skills.
First suggestion -- my initial observation is the site has way too many topics. Seems overwhelming.
Second topic: I am going to the Memphis in May BBQ fest and plan to see CB there. That is where I learned of the original SRG about 4 years ago. Let me know any specific questions and I'll try to bring back a report on what's going on with SRG.

Perhaps the name of the site is a little behind what it has become. We are much more than just BBQ. And - we are not just about any one brand or type of equipment.
Most folks favor certain methods or brands - and that is completely fine. Others like other stuff. And - occasionally...we all may have an interest in what others are doing with different gear and a different approach.
Thus - there are more topics here than a site with a narrower scope - or mindset. ;) Hey - who knows, you may find a new way to do something here!

Lots of great topics
Lots of great sponsors
Lots of great folks willing to help

Welcome from North Carolina. What is great about this site is the many types of cooking that are presented. Just because someone shows you how they cooked a great dish on say a regular kitchen stove top, I look at it and say "I wonder how I could do that same dish on my (you fill in the blank).
I am getting ready to try baking a cheesecake on my MAK. NEVER would I have entertained doing something like this. To me this is way outside the box. I now like to cook outside the box, a lot! Give it a try.

Another welcome from Minnesota! I set my opeing page to the unread posts - this gives me the most recent conversations. When I want to dive deeper into a topic I check out the Home page or do a sear. Lots of stuff - you are right. But lots of good stuff!

Here's another NC welcome ;D
Why we have so many topics, divisions, and departments here has already been explained. Suggestion: There's no law that says you have to read them all ;). Poke around on the ones that interest you most. If you don't see something you'd like to read about, put a post in the general section and chances are you'll get both input and directions.
