I also belong to a pizza forum and at the beginning of the summer there was a post about a new oven that was supposed to get up to 700 degrees (actually gets hotter 8) ). It was called a patio oven but looked like geared towards cooking pizza. One of the problems with cooking pizza outside in grill setups is that the top doesn't cook well and the bottom usually gets done before the top. Plus, to get neapolitan style pizza you need a much hotter oven. There was a lot of back and forth, it looked cheap, how could it be any good. A few people ordered them and the interest really took off. There were some setbacks and issues with construction - broken stones, leg tubes that were dented, turntable rods not straight but the company has been taking care of them. I bought mine online had a broken stone, bent turntable and the dented tube. I fixed the tube and was sent replacement parts without question. I was even sent a peel for my troubles. This oven is not a wood fired oven but does a great job for the price. I'm easily getting 800-850 degrees without cranking it all the way.

so far I have done at least 30 pizzas and am still on the same tank of gas. I have done two bakes where I have done 9 pizzas in a row , I think both in under 2 hours. This thing can crank out some pizzas.

and dessert : a smores pizza (chocolate chips, mini marshmallows and graham cracker crumbs ) and a chocolate cherry ( marscapone mixed with cocoa, sour cherry preserves, homemade dark chocolate sauce)

I have seen some people doing some other stuff besides pizza. Some good looking steaks coming out, they are taking out the stone and putting in cast iron griddles.
I haven't had it over 850 degrees but it can hit 1000
I'm having lots of fun but he college kids went back to school this weekend and now I won't have as many testers

I know I sound cheap, I think $400 is a little high but then again I have been out of work for the last 6 weeks (so take that in to account) :( But once I get back up and going I may take a closer look

This might be something I buy in the future. Perhaps for my birthday. First thing I would do is convert it to run on natural gas 8)

I also purchased a Blackstone oven a couple of months ago but haven't got around to using it. We have been working on another option for our bread and pizza and will probably try the new oven in a few weeks.
Mine arrived with a broken lower stone and a few other minor problems that were easily fixed and the company did send out a replacement stone so I am ready to give mine a try.
Here is a picture of my unit and if you look close, you can see that it has the lower stone broken.

tommy, sorry to hear that you have been out of work, I hope things change quickly. I have been wanting a wood fired oven for 3 to 5 grand so I'm loving this because the other wasn't happening. It is not exactly the same but is producing some pies that are as close to wfo as i'm going to get without the wfo.
also, anyone that thinks about getting one look around a little, I know groupon had it for $349 last week, don't know if it's still going, I paid $369 for mine

I jumped the first time i lit it, it's loud. some people have talked about converting it, i'm not sure if they have yet

i used mine with the broken stone for the first few bakes, I did not put on the side shelves, I didn't think I would use them

exactly - spending the money on a real one is a huge investment, this obviously is much simpler but gives an idea if you will like the pizza coming out. the interesting thing though is that some people who own wfo have been buying these becuase it's a quick heat up time and not a few hours for the wfo

deb, I was showing my wife your pizza oven. she is now checking them out. my wife makes a lot of bread and pies. oh, I bet you could do a real nice pie in one of those turned down low. meatloaf, peanut butter or oatmeal cookies, French toast, bacon, more cookies. how many hours have you use it for on how much gas. I didn't say that right but you understand right? I think its cool.

I'll measure when it stops raining but it's not real high. The reason is to keep the heat down to cook the top of the pizza as fast as the bottom. Also, the flame is on the right side of the oven and goes up and across the top some to mimic a woodfired oven. The stone is either 16 1/2 or 17 inches, the opening width is probably 16.
I have seen someone do a small round loaf of bread.

Spark, I'm not sure yet on the gas , I haven't kept track but I did two 9 pizza bakes which is probably 2 hours each and 4 or 5 other 1-3 pizza sessions , so probably 5 or 6 hours, I haven't lifted it lately so don't know if it's close to gone. You are welcome to come check, i'm going to wait , it's pouring :P
I have seen meatloaf, someone did drumsticks last night, some casseroles. you can get the heat down but you have to turn the regulator knob down on the tank, I haven't tried it yet.

how do they do in the rain. Live in the Pacific NW and it does rain here from time to time. any cracking of the stones with moisture if it heats up too quickly. I don't mind the rain and will be cooking in it.

I think shipping weight was 115 lbs , it's not too bad. I didn't put the side shelves on and it really doesn't take up much space, even with the shelves it would be a little less space than a gas grill. Though I then added a 4 ft table to the deck so I have plenty of room to prep. It comes apart pretty easily and I think that if I took off the top and took out the stones and turntable I could throw it in my car by myself.
Rain issue is still to be seen, I used it once when it wasn't raining hard with good luck, I worry about the stone cracking from the moisture.

top of stone to top is about 4 1/4 in center, about 16" wide, I think stone is 17"
I took a pic last night, the burner is on the side to mimic a wfo and the flame climes up the side and a little across the top

sorry, missed this Sparky. He loved the pizza from the blackstone. Kevman is good, although a little stressed, has a very full load of classes, is recruitment chair for his fraternity, and starting the job search since he'll be graduating this year. I'll let him know you were asking.
He's in charge of the Fat Tire for thanksgiving since we still don't have it here and he can buy it where he goes to school.
