We do not buy food; we simply rent it.  For something that is going to exit my body a little while later (I know... gross), they can keep it.

That's just plain stupid. And, it is really foolish for a Costco to carry such a product in it's inventory.

Yep no way.  Interested in trying but not for that price.  For some money isn't an issue.  If that was me maybe but until like win powerball no way.

I agree this is a scary  ??? ??? price for some beef. However, on my last trip to Japan, this was a pretty normal price for some average beef.

I wonder if the word "Authetnic" is why it is so High priced. Costco rarely misspells things :)

I just put a 14 pound $134 dollar ribeye in a UMAI bag for a 32 day ride and that scares the hell out of me.  This is crazy!

I read somewhere where it's illegal to ship Wagu out of Japan.  That is perhaps the prettiest steak I've ever seen.  Costco also has $3000/bottle wine.   Dee

Take a look at the Greg Norman wagyu line of meats.  Not cheep by any means, but not $136.37 /lb either.  They look very similar in the marbling.

Now, THAT would be a nice retirement gift...

lemme go get Deb and show her so she'll order the right one.  I figger if we get a 10 lb slab, we can trim it to 8 oz each and have a pretty good number of meals off that.

Just sayin'...

Allen brothers of  Chicago shows 2 10oz wagyu strip steaks for 199.00.
Not including  shipping!

Umai dry aged steak is just fine , or a pulled pork sandwich

I have extracted my cranium from rectal defile and will correct my statement.  It is Kobe beef that cannot be shipped out of Japan.  Wagu is the "knockoff" (for lack of a better term).  My previous statement was made due to a lack of my eyes to see from the location of my head inserted in the rectal canal.  I will try to limit those insertions and posts when in that location as much as possible.  Dee

The Kobe beef comes from a special breed only available in Japan. It is not allowed to even leave Japan.

The Waygu beef we get comes from a "distant cousin of that breed". Basically a hybrid of our best cow and one related to their cow.

I have to agree - our son took us to Craft Steak in Vegas - had Kobe which was good, but not worth the $ he dropped on that dinner

I have ate there too. We had the Kobe(hybrid) beef and it was really good. And we dropped a bunch of cash at that place. I must of had at least 8 Chimay's ???

Did you try their mushroom appetizer? I have never seen so many different mushrooms before in my life!

Yes we did; their mushroom assortment is evidently quite popular.  We also had the steak tartare, which we dearly loved - was the smoothest tartare I have ever eaten.

Although we did not do Chimay, we tried a flight of Scotches - our boy tells us that Colicchio has one of the best selections of Scotches in the country because his purchasing power is so huge.

If I did the flight of Scotches I probably would have needed a wheelchair to leave ::)
