Title: My Holy Grail of Tri-Tips
Post by: hikerman on December 01, 2013, 07:04:02 PM
I really don't like to toot my own horn, but....this was probably the best tasting beef that I have ever had! And it could have been better cooked over coals, or even in the pellet grill. Due to the hectic day here, I had to cook this roast inside today.  :(
I started yesterday by making the M3 marinade Tee recommends, and adding a T of WOW Trail Dust, 2 tsp of Frank's Red Hot Original Sauce and 3 oz of FT. The tri-tip swam in this for 24 hrs. Took it out of fridge, kinda, sorta dried it off, and then gave it a healthy dusting of more WOW, and then a generous coating of Fine Swine & Bovine. Let it rest for 'bout an hour, then tossed it under the broiler set at 450F. When it hit 128F IT, I pulled it, tented with foil for the time it takes this thirsty cook to have a Sierra Nevada Celebration. Then time to slice and eat. Served it with spicy sweet potato wedges and a dinner salad. All that I can say is WOW, and thank you again Tee!

That is a beautiful  tri-tip Gene! I am happy you liked that combo!

THe way all of those flavors worked together - you might think someone planned them that way - huh? ;) :D ;D

Fantastic looking tri tip! I have some M3 but I forgot what tee said about the marinade.
It's a b***h getting old.  ;) Can you advise how much of what for it?

Thanks,

Mike

Nice looking cook there.  My local grocer is running a sale on tri tip. $2.99 a lb.  Just loaded up.  I'll be giving your recipe a go. Thanks.
