Title: High Point, North Carolina says "Hi Yall"
Post by: ASEPguy on June 13, 2014, 12:00:59 PM
I found your forum while researching pellet pits/smokers/grills (whatever you want to call them) online and ran across a less familiar brand that one of your members reviewed.  I became very interested in pellet smokers when I visited my local Costco and they had a Traeger rep displaying some of their products and answering questions.  I have an old Jenn Air gas grill that has lasted me 12 years but is rusting through so I'm looking for something different.  My dad purchased a Big Green Egg several years ago and I thought about something like that but these pellet units really piqued my interest!

I'm married with 2 kids, an English bulldog and a cat.  My wife is into bulldog rescue so we currently have a foster living with us as well.  I teach automotive technology at the local community college and I'm going back to school myself.

If there is anything else you want to know about me, fire away with questions!

Hey ASEP!

Good to have you here.

You might want to post in the "Pellet Grills" section - and pose your questions in order to get some thoughts on various brands.

Suggestions? Think budget, but have some flexibility ...There are many that are close in price, but for a little more, you can get more bang for your buck!

Welcome!  There's a lot of quality difference in the last 12 years. So many companies have gone to Chinese MFG.  And most of that is just crap. Not all but most.
I'm holding out for a Rec Tec.... I told my son that was my plan and he just found them on a top 10 grills list.

I know what you mean about the quality.  The Rec Tec is assembled in GA, USA but the parts come from China.  The Blazn Grill Works seem to be 100% USA.  But the cost for the same size grill is significantly more.  As you stated, there are lots of great reviews for the Rec Tec floating around.

Welcome from SE Georgia! I own the Blaz'n Grill Works Grid Iron and I did a review here on it. Yep, a little
pricey, but too me it was money well spent.

Greetings and welcome from the Pacific Northwest.

I too found this site while researching pellet grills.  I asked some questions in the pellet grill section and received some really good feedback that helped me with my decision.  It was not easy buying a pellet grill that I could not look at and touch in person but I pulled the trigger on a Blazin Grill Works Grand Slam.  I could not be happier.  The thing is heavy duty, holds heat well, and has performed flawlessly and, in my opinion, is a nice looking grill!  I also like that it is made entirely in the USA!!!

It was more expensive than some other pellet grills and significantly less than others.  I highly recommend the Blazin Grill Works pellet grill.  Money well spent in my opinion.

By the way - I was a furniture buyer for several years and used to go to High Point for furniture market.  I always enjoyed my visits there - everyone was always so friendly (and not just the guys trying to sell me furniture :))
Keep us posted on what you select.  There are a lot of solid options out there.

Alright another Blazn Grill Works owner!  I was wondering how many I would meet on here.  Glad to hear that you are happy with your purchase.  The videos on the Blazn website do a very good job of explaining how heavy duty they are, hold heat as you said, and have several nice features not found on other cookers.  I just wondered how much of this is good marketing and how much of this is worth the extra money?

Yes, High Point is the furniture capital of the world and twice a year our city slows down to a crawl for the international furniture show.  Glad you enjoyed your visits here!
