Would you buy this?
« Reply #-1 on: August 17, 2014, 12:16:27 PM »
I spent 20 minutes at the grocery store meat isle the other day and just could not believe the prices. I did not buy any meat... Thinking about getting this.

Years ago Aaron I bought in bulk from a out of down company, even before on line shopping was around. I found the meat to be very good and steaks and roast's where almost clones of each other. All came vac sealed so storing it in the freezer was no problem. Never had one come out tough either. It was a lot cheaper than store bought. I think they where able to do this because they bought in bulk.
I would give it a try. I'm sure with your skills on the BBQ you could make them taste good.

USDA Choice........Seems like a great buy to me.
Here's a recipe

2 flat iron steaks (normally called a top blade steak)
2 TBS Olive oil
2 mashed garlic cloves
I tsp Italian parsley chopped
1/2 tsp Rosemary chopped
1/4 cup Cabernet Sauvignon wine
1/2 tsp dry mustard
salt and lots of pepper
Mix all ingredients thoroughly and marinate steak for one hour.
Grill over hot coals 4 minutes per side. This steak is best cooked rare to medium rare.

Sounds to me like a very nice deal Aaron! Flat iron steaks are usually tender, and have a very nice beefy flavor.

That is a lot of meat to take a flier on, but it is a good cut at a good price.  I think you will like them.

That's an excellent price for flat iron steaks. It might be worth buying in bulk to get that price.

We love flat iron steaks!   For the money, I think they have the most flavor, and if cooked AND sliced right, are as tender as a filet or rib eye.   Hard to find around here--our best luck is in Canyon, TX, at the meat lab for West Texas A & M university, where they teach raising, processing and selling meat through the college.   And, it's durn good meat--at least choice quality, if not prime.

Looked online today and they still had the sale going on. After I spent two times in the walk in freezer looking for these Flat iron steaks I finally found them at -10° F for 5 minutes each time :) So after I get home I noticed the 12% solution thing, oh well I have not had a steak in a long time and It must make them better or they wouldn't do it, right ???  Looks like there are 6 steaks per bag. I will probably do jerky with one or two packages. I know I have one pack out thawing so I will do a flavor report tomorrow. Try and get a eyeball on one of these Pappy ;)

I'm happy and can't wait for the first package to thaw out.....
