Tomorrow is the last day of no Amazon Sales Tax for Minnesota
« Reply #-1 on: September 29, 2014, 03:32:40 PM »
I know I am not going to get any sympathy from folks who have always paid sales tax  :'(

But in my high tax state this was always a welcome relief.....just yet another frustrating reach into my wallet.  >:(

Well Amazon sold us out even though they have ZERO physical presence in Minnesota.

eBay will be getting a lot more looks in the future.  :)

Nevada did the same thing this year with Amazon, 1 Jan 2014 they started collecting sales tax on us too.  I have made a few purchases through Amazon, that were through a third party, and they did not collect sales tax. There are still some tax free sales through Amazon, you just have to shop for them.

Pappy, in all fairness to Amazon, they had little choice in this matter and even they aren't happy about it. It causes more paperwork and possible loss of sales.  It's the states that are forcing companies like Amazon to start collecting sales/use taxes.

And like LVC eluded to, Minnesotans are not alone!

Here's a quick story about this:  http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-sales-drop-with-online-sales-tax-2014-4

Remember, the state is having Amazon collect it for them.  I have no love for Amazon, but in this case... they are not keeping those funds.

Sorry, Pappy.  I'm just happy that my cigar sources have not had to jump on the bandwagon.  That would really hurt!
