I can't believe I left my little Weber Smokey Joe in my motorhome when I sold it. I cooked some pretty decent meals on that little grill. If I still had it I would make one of LA's little mini smokers out of it.

Pretty sure that's what this one will end up being

Finally found a couple 32 qt steamer pots.

The one on the left is heavy duty aluminum. $39.50 at a restaurant supply. I asked the lady if she had Imusa and she directed me to a supply place that just handles equipment for mexican restaurants. So i bought the Imusa (right) for $30.99. You can see the difference in the aluminum thickness on the higher end pot.

The handles on the Imusa are about 3/4" higher on the pot (right)

Just have the 1 smokey joe silver.....(For now  ;D)

Still gotta get the hardware and temp dial.

Im going to get a smokey joe gold and make 2 of em  ;D Thicker pot for winter, thinner for summer.

My wifes going to kill me  :o

Finally had some time to build.

Here is the build.

Took the steamer drop in that came with the Imusa pot and used it for a template.

Center punched the marks and started to drill. I used a small 1/16 drill then the step drill.

Next i drilled 4 holes around the bottom (got 1 kinda off center but no biggie. These just hold the heat diffuser. 2" from the bottom.

The heat diffuser is a 12" clay pot bowl. Cover it with aluminum foil when the 1st smoke is going.

Drilled 4 holes 3" down from the top for the top grate. All the hardware used in the heat areas is SS.

Installed a cheapo dial thermo.

Time for some smoke.

Installed adjustment handles to the top & bottom dampers.

Put a little pile of charcoal and used my Looft Lighter to start.

Added some yucky messy wood chips. (sorry forgot the chip shot)

No let the smoke roll.

Inside shot.

Think im going to skip the paint job.
