Can you give a little more info on using the chimney starter method? Seems like a lot of charcoal used for a short sear.

I turn the chimney upside down, placed a Weber cube in the center and filled it with coals. It's not a lot of coals since the bottom section is quite small. Maybe a handful or two at the most.


How do you like the starter cubes? Amazon was out of them last time I checked.  Pam  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Must have been karma I saw a pack of flat irons reduced for quick sale today and did them on the stove (in a CI skillet) to medium rare for lunch.  SWMBO and the boys were pleased, so I know I did good.

That is a great idea and I could use it to sear a steak. You put the weber cube with the coals?

PAM, I love the Weber cubes. I can't remember the last time I started a fire without them. I get mine from Lowe's or Home Depot.
