Penzey's is a family run business, been buying from them since they just had the one store in Chicago, their hdgts. is in WI. Saveur magazine ran a story on them and gave them a boost. They now have stores in 28 states; Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati here in Ohio. Bill the owner travels and buys the spices. They are expensive but all top quality. I order online and over $30 is free shipping. After I got jars bought I now buy in bulk and that is a little cheaper. Don

Made it out today. I can't wait to make some chili now, their chili powders smell much nicer than the Bloemers I usually buy, and isnt full of salt and fillers, which really makes it cheaper in the long run. The Northwoods I think will make some awesome wings. Gf also bought a little gift box that has smoked paprika and FORWARD.
Pot of chili getting made tonight or tomorrow lol.

Look at the difference in ingredients, and the smell alone is significant. Gotta make a better pot of chili.

Actually the 4 ounce bag of chili powder was 10 cents cheaper than the smaller I think it was 2.5 oz jar.

This is a great company for quality.  Also, they generally ship free on larger orders.  I've bought several of their mixtures and think their paprika is the best I've ever found.  Expensive but worth it for things you really want to be proud of cooking.

Second Smoking Don's comment.   Buy them first time in the jar--always buy the larger, THEN, when you reorder, buy bulk quantities.   Everytime I order, we have to do a total makeover on the cabinet we keep them in.   All SO good, reasonably priced and FRESH.    Hard to pick a favorite--my wife uses "Herbs de Province" like it's salt!   LOL  Oven roasted some fresh asparagus with EVOO and Herbs de .... yesterday.   Delicious!

My neighbor used Penzey spices for years until she discovered Savory Spice Shop and Spices Inc. she doesn't buy from Penzeys anymore so you might want to check these outfits out.

Spices Inc.   Pork Stank and Sweet Tweetie are competition tested..............

Paul, the Jerk seasoning works best if you make a paste with some oil and lime juice then massage it into the food.
And it is not hot at all.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up.
I just now roughly chopped up a potato and coated it in olive oil and put some Northwoods on half and the Herbes De Provence on the other, just to get a feel for them. Potato was risking sitting there until summer anyway. In the oven getting right.

We have to redo the cabinet every time too. Hurts to throw out perfectly good spices, but the boss is the boss.

We like the 4S smoked salt.  We go to Penzey's store for one spice and never get out for less than $50....good stuff
