Rock hen
« Reply #-1 on: February 27, 2015, 02:31:36 PM »
So last night I decided to roast a chicken for Kerry and her mom this weekend. Her mom will be staying at our house a couple days so I'm off to the camp..........
Anyway, I made an injection with spices and butter and got the really nice plump bird on the grill.
In the mean time I fired up the Hibachi for a couple steaks. When it was ready I seared the steaks and then moved them to the grill to finish slow while the sides were cooking.
Had an adult beverage in the meanwhile.  I brought the steaks in  and we had dinner and watched a little TV. Went on to bed as I have been really tired since being sick all last weekend.
At 3AM my eyes popped wide open and I thought....The chicken!  I went outside and turned the burners off, raised the lid and there was a really pretty brown bird about half the size it started off at.  Took my finger and tapped on it....Hard as a rock!   If you have an empty wooden cigar box you can duplicate the sound it makes.  :o
I left it there and closed the lid. When I get home I will take a picture just for the record books...
I think if I hit it with a hammer it would turn to dust ;D...  Hum, Rock Chicken dust... A new rub?

Terry....I think you may have found a new form of taxidermy. Maybe you can mount that thing on a pole and we can fly it like a flag at the Fall Gathering?  It could be a mascot!:D :D :D

After I pulled it off the stand I crushed it in my hand bones and all. It looked like fried chicken skin... weighed about a quarter pound.. It was a Big hen when it started... :o :D :D :D :D
