Hello from Northern Cal
« Reply #-1 on: August 29, 2012, 06:39:40 PM »
Hello, all, Dirk, here. I ran across this forum while searching the Tapatalk directory. I own a Charbroil Infrared Grill, as well as a Costco Vision Kamado. I have to say that the Infrared has seen little action since I got the kamado.  Smoking and grilling on a kamado can be quite addicting. I really like this grill!

Look forward to checking out more of the forum!

Smoke, I will admit I am surprised how many California (well left coast in general)  q'ers there are. Being from the South we tend to think y'all only eat veggies and tofu. From personal experience I spent 6 days out in San Jose at an AT&T training class back in the very early 80's and was jonesing for some fried chicken and could not find any. I had never gone a full week without fried chicken so I finally asked the instructor where I could get some. He gave some directions to what I think was the only KFC place in town so I was able to get my fix. Now I know that not only are y'all meat eaters but you take it to a new level and you got things like tri-tip to cook we can't hardly find here. I love lookiing at the cooks from you Cali guys. Just goes to show you, good is good, wherever it is.

Thanks 2-pockets!!  We still have the stigma of just being grillers and there is a bunch of that going on, that is for sure but as you have seen we can do lo and slo that would make you Southern Boys proud (at least I/we hope so)!!

I am having KFC tonight for supper......gonna get a bucket with taters and gravy and cole slaw and some bisquits with honey!!!

P.S. : we do have our avocado and sprout eatin folks out here...I don't bother to associate with them!!  ;D

Thanks, smokeasaurus. Nice to see you all. I've been kinda busy lately - hopefully will have some time to cook before the snow flies!

I was raised in Boise, ID, we never let a little snow get in the way of anything, just make that fire a little bigger...
