New guy to forum, old timer
« Reply #-1 on: August 17, 2015, 01:12:29 PM »
Well let first say hey. I am a 64 year old guy that has raised two kids and have 5 grand children. Married to my HS sweetheart for 44 years. To give you an idea on how well my kids and grand kids think of my grilling, ask any of them and they will say, I want a Pop's steak!!!!

I use the old fashion charcoal. For taste, IMHO, and in order to enjoy the time of the buildup to the actual grilling. The time from soaking the coals, lighting them and waiting until they turn white and ready for cooking....the time to enjoy a cold adult beverage. I have used charcoal for all my life, including college for the exception of 1 gas grill that was a stationary unit that came with one of my homes. But still used the trusty charcoal.

Being from the south, I pretty much grill out all year round. I have slowed some in the cold weather as I have gotten older.

I have a Traeger smoker that I use lots during the fall and winter months. Smoking ribs, butts, shoulders, turkey breast. I am going to try smoking a brisket this fall. Hopefully it will not disappoint.

So look forward to using this site for recipes and advice....

Welcome from Minnesota. I'm catching up with you on years, but still have 2 teenagers - no grandkids. I like using charcoal as well and look forward to sharing stories and ideas with you.

Welcome from Lower Alabama. Looking forward to you being on the forum.
While brisket has its little challenges I think its one of my favorite things to cook.  Fall is a great time for it since you can tend the fire or at least sit near it and drink those adult beverages...
