I recently purchased a Big Easy SRG and found this place by searching for pointers on cooking times. My main smoker is a Char Broil pit with a side firebox. My main grill is a Weber Master Touch Kettle. I decided to buy a big easy for the convenience.
I'm planning on cooking a turkey in the big easy this Thanksgiving so lets see how that goes... Any pointers on the turkey? I'm thinking a nice butter with garlic and herbs rub down. I'm just not sure which heat setting to use on the big easy SRG.

Now, for the turkey ideas. I cook HIGH setting lid down till 165 in the thighs, turn unit off open lid and let the turkey rest a few good mins in the chamber. This will finish crisping any skin that was not finished all the way.
As for brining or injecting if you wish to go that rout, both do an excellent job it's up to you. As for time, a turkey is done when it wants to be done. I have had 12 lbs birds go one hour 40 mins and others go two hours twenty mins or even longer.
ALWAYS go by temp not time, we dont want you serving a raw bird
