I agree with David.  The one clear benefit I can see with the Weber over the Egg/Primo......is if it falls you pick it up and you are fine....the others...off to the store......

Char-Griller has had such good success with their Kamado......is it Weber quality...probably not......but the price point makes Kamado style cooking affordable for the masses.........................and everybody seems to love theirs.......

Not hating on the new Weber Kamado......don't want to piss off Weber Nation..........but at this price point.................I don't know............
I don't Dr Phil approves of this price point

If it was April 1 that this pricing was released, I would have been suspicious that it was a gag.  I think Weber forgot that part of the reason we all love them so much is that while they aren't the cheapest they are still a great value brand.

Part of the pricing might be to keep it far and above their Smokey Mountain offerings...............just sayin..............

They are going after the BGE market IMHO.

The whole thing should be top notch stainless for that price.

Not sure who their target audience really is.

For those price points, you could buy WSM and a nice kettle at retail and still be 1/2 the cost.  Also if they expect their Weber owners to abandon the WSM's and kettles already out there for this model, someone was smoking crack in the boardroom.  No way in this economy.  Although it looks like they have addressed one of the negatives of a ceramic insulated cooker by using air insulation to allow for quicker recovery from a temp overshoot, on the flip side I don't think air insulation is as efficient as the ceramic.  It's like they made a Swiss Army Knife "do all" cooker/smoker/grill just because they could regardless of the actual customer market.

Not for me (unless I win one or find it for $100 on craigslist).

Double wall with installation like the Char-Griller Akorn.
More uses features than the Akorn,
Must nicer looking and better built than the Akorn
But, I bet the Akorn cooks just as well.

Firecraft has the Weber Summit Charcoal Grill on sale at $1499.95

Walmart has the Char-Griller Akorn on sale at $288.
Now I do not see $1211.95 worth of improvement over the Akorn but it is a good looking grill.

I wonder if they will see the price is out of line and revamp the price later?

$1499.00 is WAY to much for this unit much less the $1600+ for the other one ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I am sorry, after watching the video I still can't see $1499 worth of product there  :(

I'd rather save up buy a 22.5 Weber then spend the rest on a down payment for a  MAK  or buy another REC-TEC

I think they priced it way out of range  :( :( :(
